Welcome to YatraConnect. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This privacy policy will inform you about how we look after your personal data when you use our app and tell you about your privacy rights and how the law protects you.

2. Data We Collect

We may collect, use, store and transfer different kinds of personal data about you which we have grouped together as follows:

  • Identity Data includes first name, last name, username or similar identifier, gender, and date of birth.
  • Contact Data includes email address and telephone numbers.
  • Profile Data includes your username and password, your interests, preferences, feedback, and survey responses.

  • Technical Data includes internet protocol (IP) address, your login data, browser type and version, time zone setting and location, browser plug-in types and versions, operating system and platform, and other technology on the devices you use to access this app.
  • User-Generated Content includes text messages, photos, images, videos, files, and documents that you upload, send, or share within the app through announcements or chat features.
  • Location Data includes your geographic location when you choose to share it within the chat or messaging features. This may include precise GPS coordinates when you explicitly share your location.
  • Media Metadata includes information embedded in photos, videos, and files such as file size, format, creation date, and device information.

3. How We Use Your Data

We will only use your personal data when the law allows us to. Most commonly, we will use your personal data in the following circumstances:

  • To register you as a new user.
  • To provide and manage your account.
  • To enable you to participate in yatra groups and activities.
  • To manage our relationship with you including notifying you about changes to our app or policies.
  • To administer and protect our business and this app.
  • To deliver relevant app content and advertisements to you and measure or understand the effectiveness of the advertising we serve to you.

4. User-Generated Content and Media

YatraConnect allows you to create, upload, and share content through our Announcements and Chat/Messaging features. This section explains how we handle your user-generated content:

4.1 Announcements Module

The Announcements feature allows admins and authorized users to share images and text-based announcements with the community. When you upload images or create announcements:

  • Images and text are stored securely on our servers
  • Content is visible to users within your yatra community based on the announcement settings
  • Admins can target announcements based on demographic filters (age, gender) for relevance

4.2 Chat and Messaging Module

Our in-app chat feature allows you to communicate with other community members. Through the chat, you may send:

  • Text Messages: Your messages are stored to enable conversation history and synchronization across devices
  • Photos and Images: Images you share are uploaded and stored to be viewable by recipients
  • Videos: Video files you share are stored securely and accessible to conversation participants
  • Files and Documents: Documents you share are stored and made available for download by recipients
  • Location Data: When you choose to share your location, your precise GPS coordinates are shared with the recipient(s)

Important: All content shared in chat is visible to other participants in the conversation. Group chats make content visible to all group members. Please be mindful of the information you share.

5. Location Data

YatraConnect collects location data only when you explicitly choose to share your location within the chat feature:

  • Type of Location Data: We collect precise GPS coordinates when you use the "Share Location" feature
  • User Consent: Location sharing is entirely optional and requires your explicit action to share
  • Purpose: Location data is used solely to share your location with other users in a chat conversation
  • No Background Tracking: We do not track your location in the background or when the app is not in use
  • No Real-Time Tracking: We do not continuously track your location; it is only captured at the moment you choose to share

6. Demographic Information and Targeted Announcements

YatraConnect collects demographic information such as gender and date of birth for the specific purpose of enabling targeted announcements within the app. This allows us to:

  • Filter announcement recipients based on relevant demographic attributes
  • Deliver more personalized and relevant information to you
  • Ensure you only receive announcements that are applicable to your demographic group

We want to emphasize that this demographic information is:

  • Used solely within the app for filtering announcement audiences
  • Never shared with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes
  • Securely stored with the same level of protection as all your other personal data
  • Only accessible to authorized personnel who need this information to perform their duties

Upon account deletion, your personal data and user-generated content will be permanently removed within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Under certain circumstances, you have rights under data protection laws in relation to your personal data, including the right to:

  • Request access to your personal data.
  • Request correction of your personal data.
  • Request erasure of your personal data.
  • Object to processing of your personal data.

YatraConnect uses the following third-party services to provide and improve our app:

  • Cloud Storage Providers: We use secure cloud infrastructure to store user-generated content including messages, images, videos, and documents
  • Analytics Services: We may use analytics tools to understand app usage patterns and improve user experience (no personal content is shared)
  • Push Notification Services: We use platform-provided services (Apple Push Notification Service, Firebase Cloud Messaging) to deliver notifications

These third-party services are bound by their own privacy policies and our data processing agreements. We do not sell your personal data to any third parties.

11. Children's Privacy

YatraConnect is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete such information.
